Hi, we are trying to improve on the number of links to our website.
A supplier has added a PDF file which is case study to their website.
In the PDF it has a link to our website, will this count as a link or not?

Google can crawl pdfs so it does count as a link however it's not the strongest link in the world.

Backlinks and SPAM
I was doing some back link review of competitors and I have noticed that many of our competition have 300+ do follow back links from Justia.com and an additional 300+ do follow links from law.cornell.edu (they share the same database). The links on Justia are from different pages and they are all going to the root of our competitors site. So the questions are as follows; 1: For the purpose of SEO is this considered SPAM 2: If not SPAM, then does it have a positive effect on the competitions website and should I attempt to emulate for my client. Backlinks from different TLD's impact
Hi MOZ'ers, I'm wondering what the impact of different TLD backlinks is for same language pages. For example: we're on a website that has a German national TLD .de. We're earning backlinks and they are coming from .de as well as .ch (Switzerland) or .at (Austria) pages. What would be more desirable, and how big would you consider the difference? Does iframe itself count as a backlink?
Our situation is similar to YouTube. We have an original content on every subpage that is genuinely useful when embedded as a widget on 3r party websites. That is why we offer an embeddable widget that shows slightly simplified version of the content - exactly like a YouTube video embedded on your blog. Web2.0 and private sites backlinks loop hole
Let suppose i have one target page i.e video and one web2.0 blog or wordpress blog. If i keep on adding new articles on web2.0 and in each article i add one back link(with different anchor text) to my same target page. Is this create red flag in google as i will be using one domain? Do I need to keep my web2.0 like bloggers.com and weebly or wordpress blogs relevant to one topic to increase the relevancy score. If i try to keep them relevant my back links to target pages from one domain increases again. I kind of stuck up in this loop help me out!

Do Local Listings like Yellow Pages and yelp count for backlinks??
I am wondering if adding your company with url on a local listing like yellowpages.com, yelp.com, merchantCircle.com, etc. actually counts as a "backlink"? I'm thinking it is not considered a link because I have never seen one listing in Open site explorer, either that, or it is considered a backlink, just not one important enough for open site explorer to show it. Does anyone know for sure??

How good is a backlink that's in the footer
Hello, The strongest site in our industry (according to domain authority and excluding wikipedia) said that they would put a sitewide link to us in their footer. We're good friends with them. It would be right next to the copyright. Our site is nlpca (dot) com The partner site is nlpu (dot) com The link will say something like "More NLP Training" with the "NLP" as the link. We're targeting the keyword "NLP" How much will this move us up for the keyword "NLP"? Right now we're on the 3rd page for that term. I also want to make sure that it's a white hat move. Thanks!
