What is Hub Linking
-
What is Hub Linking - an seo company mentioned it to me? Is it any good?
-
The basic idea behind hub linking is that there are certain websites that are "hubs" for information - that is, they are one place that you can go to get resources on a topic. A lot of times these domains link out a lot, because they want to showcase other websites that have good information resources on the topic. They often do have good page authority, if they are good resources on the topic, because people link back to them.
One thing to look out for when engaging someone to do Hub linking is, you want to make sure the sites you're getting links from are actually relevant resources that real people are using. A lot of "hub" pages are created solely for SEO purposes and tend to have thin content and too many links, which can be a sign to Google that the link is a shady one. So it's important to be judicious in selecting a hub page to target for links, and I would advise against trying to create one yourself unless you have a long-term strategy for how to continue adding content and making it useful.

If you’re in need of a quality backlink, you really can’t go wrong with “hubs”.
- These hubs tend to achieve PageRank pretty easily
- They can produce DoFollow backlinks with a high enough hub author score (75 last I heard)
- It’s scalable (you can create unlimited amounts of hubs)
With HubPages you create “hubs”, which is a good name for these types of pages and a good concept to explore in your overall SEO and Link Building strategies. The term hub means center of activity which is what authority sites are… To be a hub, or to be an authority means you need to be talking about/linking to not just yourself but others as well, much like WikiPedia does. Selfishly hoarding your links and limiting them to just internal on-site links doesn’t show the search engines you’re an authority, it merely depicts your site as an “island”.
Hope it makes sense for you.

Internal Linking - Post links vs Side Bar Links behaving differently
Hi, I have a question regarding the internal linking behavior. My website is www.hindimeaning.com which is approx 3 years old. I have approx 450 posts. Now i have a widget on right sidebar "Popular posts". A widget below my posts "Related Posts". And a simple html CSS menu above the posts (I removed menu around 6 month before so currently it will not show.) I crawled my site with moz crawler (same are the result from google crawler as well) and it shows menus links as internal links. While sidebar widget "Popular posts" and "Related Posts" are not showing as internal links. If we talk theoretically what i learn till now is "every link on a page behaves as internal link". Then why the widget links are not showing as internal links. Thanks, Mahesh Kumar

Houzz Comment Links
A company I am working with has been posting pictures and links to their website in the comments section of Houzz articles. I notice many companies have been doing this in general. While it generates decent amounts of traffic, I am wondering if google sees 30 links coming from article comments that it will deem that as spam? My gut tells me to send these comment links to the Houzz member profile, then direct them to your own website. Thoughts? ***Anyone in home design, decor, etc. should really get involved there. Fantastic source of business for professional in that field.

Reciprocal links
Are they worth anything, if they are from relevant sites? I'm I better off avoiding linking back wherever possible?

Link Exchange
Hi everyone, I just started working for a client in a new niche. After reviewing the backlink profiles of his competitors I can see that the top sites are using a ton of link exchanges. They are from really spammy sites too. The kind that will link to anyone that provides a link back. Anyone else seeing much of this?

Should I link to my Press Releases?
I just created my first press release at prlog.org using the free account, which lets you have one outgoing followed link. Question: Should I link to my press releases from my web site? I made the mistake of doing link exchanges in the past, and worried Google would detect it as a link exchange. It would be nice to link to the press releases on my site while still getting the benefits of having an incoming link from a site with PR 6. Is prlog.org a good site for press releases? Is there another one you recommend that is free or inexpensive? Is there any benefits to using multiple press release sites, with different content on each site? Thanks!!!

Links on the same keyword
When is linking from one particular keyword to much. At what point could link building from one keyword be considered spam and potentially delist a site ? Is it possible for a site to be delisted for having to many links from the same keyword ? Heard linking from the website name is more important following recent changes. I try and link from a selection of 3 to 4 keywords. Thanks for your help
